A 6-year-old girl is recovered after a sculpture at park near the Sawtooth Center in Winston-Salem fell on top of her, crushing her jaw.

Trinity Barr was rushed to the hospital where doctors had to wire her jaw shut.

Her mother, Kelly, said Trinity climbed on the sculpture during a recent trip to the park.

Parks and Recreation officials have admitted the sculptures were not mounted properly.

"Not knowing if the other sculptures were secured enough, we just made that decision to try to get the other pieces out of there," said Tim Grant, director of recreation and parks.

Doctors said the girl could be back to normal in around three weeks. For now she is only able to drink liquids.

"My concern is that it could happened to somebody else's child," Kelly Barr said.

Barr said the whole ordeal has been difficult.

"There's a lot of emotional distress," she said.
