Perdue Releases New Ad In McCrory's Hometown

POSTED: 2:36 pm EDT August 19, 2008
UPDATED: 3:05 pm EDT August 19, 2008

Lt. Gov. Beverly Perdue's campaign for governor has started running a television ad on the home turf of her Republican opponent, Charlotte Mayor Pat McCrory.

The new ad released by the Democratic candidate's campaign on Tuesday says Perdue has spent her life fighting for the middle class and will lead North Carolinians through "tough times."

The ad makes no explicit reference to GOP opponent McCrory.

But according to a news release announcing the ad, the 30-second spot is running in Charlotte and is the first such advertisement from any gubernatorial candidate to air in that market.

Both McCrory and Perdue will be in Durham on Tuesday night for a live, hour-long televised debate.
