The Davidson County District Attorney's office is looking into an incident where a 7th- grade student at Lexington Middle School crashed through a pane of glass on a second-story window and fell to the ground below.

The incident happened shortly before 3 p.m. Wednesday.

The girl, whose name was not being released, was taken to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries. School officials said her condition is improving.

Lexington Police Chief John Lollois did not say what caused the girl to fall, but did say no charges were expected to be filed.

School Superintendent Dr. Becky Bloxam said it appeared the incident was an accident. She added that no charges would be pressed.

"We have every strategy in place to keep kids safe and we've met all all OSHA and building code standards," Bloxam said.
