UPDATED: 3:33 pm EDT August 29, 2008

The body of a man found in the 1300 block of Hampton Road in Germanton is the victim of Winston-Salem's latest homicide, police said.

The victim has been identified as Daryl Dion Boyd, 32, of Winston Salem. The medical examiner ruled the cause of death as strangulation.

Police said they received a tip that led them to the discovery of the body on Thursday. Boyd was taken to Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center for identification and an autopsy.

Police said the tipster said the killing happened on Monday.

Another man, Richard Glenn Burris, 48, of Winston-Salem was arrested and charged with first-degree murder in the slaying.

He is being held in the Forsyth County Jail on no bond.

His first court appearance is scheduled for Friday.

This is the Twin City's 12th homicide investigation in 2008.

The investigation into this death is ongoing and anyone with information about this case is asked to contact Crimestoppers at 727-2800.
