Kim Gebbia
Kim Gebbia is an award-winning reporter who joined the WXII News Team in June, 2008. Kim traded the beach for the piedmont, coming to Winston-Salem from WECT in Wilmington, North Carolina.While at the top-rated NBC affiliate, Kim substitute anchored and reported, covering national stories about Tropical Storm Ernesto, the murder of pregnant Marine, Maria Lauterbach and was the first to break dozens of local stories to Wilmington viewers night after night.During her almost two years at WECT, Kim won several journalism awards, including the AP 2007 "Rookie of the Year," the RTNDA's Best Series and Education story for her look into the teen drinking and driving awareness programs in the Wilmington area.
Prior to coming to WECT, Kim was a reporter and anchor for NewSource 15 in Athens, Georgia and hosted Georgia Gameday, a magazine style show about UGA Football which aired weekly on Charter Cable.Kim is originally from Atlanta and graduated Magna cum Laude from the Grady School of Journalism at The University of Georgia in 2006, with a B.A. in Broadcast Journalism and a minor in Spanish.For Kim, telling the news means giving viewers the facts and relevant information along with a compelling, engaging and well-written story.When Kim is not busy reporting the news, she volunteers in the Triad community as a member of the Junior League of Winston-Salem. She loves to stay active- whether it be yoga, running, spin class, or simply spending some time at the beach.
