'Canes Activate RW Williams

POSTED: 12:00 am EST December 5, 2008

(Sports Network) - The Carolina Hurricanes activated right wing Justin Williams off injured reserve on Thursday while placing defenseman Dennis Seidenberg on IR.

Williams appeared in his first game of the season in Thursday's loss to the Penguins, as he had surgery on September 18 to repair a torn right Achilles tendon he suffered during a training session before the start of the season. He missed the team's first 25 games of the campaign.

The 27-year-old, who only played in 37 games last season after suffering a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, has appeared in 459 games over his seven-year career and has recorded 121 goals and 185 assists while skating with Philadelphia and Carolina.

Seidenberg, who has a leg injury, has played in 24 games this season and has two goals and 11 assists.
